The Battle of Brunanburh 937 AD
This large Sunday game was based on the decisive battle between the Saxons led by Ethalston against a combined force of Scots, Welsh and Irish lead by Olaf Guthfrithson, King of Dublin. Details of the battle come from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles and the poem ‘Battle of Brunanburh’. IMG_2207.JPG King ...

Re: Follow up
Hi Ratty The 'A' class infantry not having to follow-up into the vacated hex is on page 12 of the rule book, or somewhere close! Rules update! The updated text is complete and has been for a while. We are currently sorting out important production logistics and really need to get everything in place...

Re: Follow up
All units must automatically follow-up and occupying the hex, after eliminating an enemy unit.
Exceptions are:
The victorious unit:
Is A class infantry.
Is part of a 'shield wall.'
Is behind planted stakes.
Is behind pavisses.
Is of a unit type that cannot enter the terrain contained in the hex.

Re: Battle of McDowell 1862
Hi Norm,
Thanks for posting the link to your blog. I've just finished reading the McDowell battle report which was a very informative and entertaining read. Your Two Flags rule system managed to closely re-create the historical outcome - never easy to do, and is testimony to the quality of the system.

WWII Combined Arms Assault - Infantry and Armour
In this World War II scenario, the British force was tasked with pushing through the German defences, the individual units of which were indicated by marker chips. These also included some ‘dummy’ markers which made the game both interesting and challenging for the British commanders (Tim and I). To...

HHM Ottomans v Hungarians
Dave and Tim from the Forest Outlaws club ran a participation game at the Leeds show which pitted two large 350 point armies against each other. The Ottoman army was twice the size of the Hungarian in terms of units on the table, but a large portion of the Hungarian force consisted of expensive armo...

Re: flocking trenches
Hi Canis, Flock consists of very thin coloured fibres, usually nylon, which can be applied using an electrostatic machine for very short fine fibre, or by simply sprinkling onto the glued surface when using longer, thicker flock such as the Noch 50210 Spring Meadow. Scenic scatter is cloured, freeze...

Re: WWII Brits v German: Normandy
Yes, its rather rather good isn't it. Dave Mac should be taking commisions! He uses his own formula scatter and system for flocking.

WWII Brits v German: Normandy
In this scenario we were using the battlegroup rule system, adapted to hexes, to fight a contact engagement between British and German reconnaissance units. The terrain layout was provided by Dave Mack and is typical of the terrain encountered inland from the Normandy beaches. My German recon unit c...
