Painting the 'Ming'

Over the lock-down weeks I have been painting a large Ming army. Below are some photos in various stages of the project.

Thanks for the thumbs up! I researched some authentic Chinese symbols, but after painting the first few I decided that they didn't look right on the shields. I then started to just doodle various abstract patterns which would fit better onto the shield shapes. This use of 'artistic license' seemed to work and it was very quick to do - in very little time I'd filled all the shields! Individually some of the shield designs are a little 'iffy' but on mass, when based-up, I was pleased with the overall effect. So thanks chaps for the positive comments.

I have just finished painting and basing the Chinese bombards, heavy cannon and units of militia - I'll put some pics on the thread shortly.
