In search for the right miniature

Post by Zoshakan »

Hey Kallistrains,

I've an elven and an orcish army, mainly Kallistra miniatures.

And i'm in search for one more troop type.

But first, some context, so you are able to understand, what I'm searching for:

My orcs are not the run-of-the-mill orcs, because I wanted an wargaming army oriented on the orc-style of my larp-orc-group.

We are heavily influenced by asian cultures, primarly mongols and japanese, here some picutres:

So this is my wargaming-army:

As your keen eye might spot: I suck at painting, but I paint according to the 2-foot-rule and on the battlefield it works alright.
The infantry is a mix of Samurai, Koreans, Mongols and Janissaries.

Soooooooo, long story short:
I need a miniature for another troop type.
I've browsed the Kallistra-range and also the battle reports in the forum- because there are some nice close ups - to find the right miniature, but I'm not sure which one's the right one.
It should be:
- infantry
- with a spear (or generally polearm)
- in the mongol-style-cloak you've seen in the picture - or something similiar, wide tunics will do to
- no shields or armour

So: Which one do you think will do the trick?

I already have them mixed in the mass of infantry (also: to armoured).

I think maybe the eastern peasent militia could work, but i haven't found good pictures of them.

Hi Zoshakan,
I've been scanning the H&H ranges trying to find the 'best fit' and I must admit that it has proved difficult to find a near match. Eastern European armoured infantry (H-3003) is one possibility, they have tunics covering their armour but have no cloaks. These could be added using modelling putty. The Eastern European peasants H-3002 you mentioned have mixed improvised weapons, but are probably a closer fit in terms of their clothing and head gear.
Kind regards
Paul

Thanks, that's great service!

I will try the Janissary halberds again. Most of the halberds can be cut down to spears and I try to file down the unique hats of them.
